The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially launched its 50th anniversary celebrations with a ceremony in Accra, Ghana. This momentous event marks the start of a year-long series of activities commemorating the establishment of the regional bloc on May 28, 1975, in Lagos, Nigeria.
