The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened its doors to members and identifiable groups for input on the party’s constitutional amendment.
In a memo dated April 25, 2025, the party has invited individuals wishing to submit proposals to send them either to the Office of the General Secretary at the Party Headquarters or directly to the Constitutional Amendment Committee via its Secretary or email at nppconstitutionalamendment@gmail.com. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, May 9, 2025.
“The party looks forward to receiving proposals for constitutional reforms that will lead to a Revised Constitution addressing structural and critical issues confronting the party,” the statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong noted.
The memo also announced an Extraordinary National Delegates Conference scheduled for July this year, in accordance with Article 10(2)(8) of the party Constitution. This conference will primarily consider the various amendment proposals presented as motions for adoption.
At its National Council meeting on April 16, 2025, the party formed a nine-member Constitutional Amendment Committee tasked with reviewing and proposing amendments to the party’s constitution. The committee is chaired by Frank Davies, Chairman of the party’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee.

The committee’s mandate includes:
- Identifying provisions of the Party Constitution requiring amendments based on the recommendations of the Mike Oquaye Election Review Committee
- Working on the recommendations of the 2021 Constitutional Review Committee chaired by Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin
- Receiving proposals for constitutional amendments from party members and identifiable groups
