The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Accra New Town Congregation, was honored to host Liberia’s first female Defence Minister, Brigadier General Geraldine Janet George (Rtd), on Good Friday as she visited the country for the Easter holidays.
In her remarks, Brigadier General George expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for her journey from humble beginnings to her current position. She encouraged the congregation to maintain their faith in God and believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Sharing her life experiences, she urged Christians to continue trusting in God amidst challenges.
Her visit highlighted her commitment to her faith and her desire to connect with fellow Christians beyond her official duties. Brigadier General George’s humility and faith were evident as she shared her testimony and offered words of encouragement.
“If God can take me from that place and bring me to a place of relevance and permanence, God can do it for any other person here,” she said. She reminded attendees that while they may face doubts about God’s existence, their prayers will be answered in due time.
“I just came to encourage you that whatever issues you are faced with, it is time to put them on the cross because our Father has already made a mockery of death on the cross.”
With nearly two decades of military experience, Brigadier General George has served in various significant roles, including Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia and Deputy Minister of Defense for Administration. Her international deployments include her service with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
The Minister-in-Charge, Rev. Frank Oguase Adu, alongside Associate Minister Rev. Titus Tetteh Nanor, offered prayers for divine protection for Brigadier General George, her household, and the people of Liberia. Rev. Adu presented her with a Bible and a copy of the Presbyterian English Hymn Book, encouraging her to lead with godliness, humility, and love in her role.
