The National Tripartite Committee’s negotiations will determine the 2025 minimum wage and base pay. The committee, comprising employers, labor representatives, and government officials, aims to conclude discussions by April’s end, aligning with the Public Financial Management Act.
The current minimum wage, set at GH₵18.15 per day since January 2024, may see an increase, with projections suggesting a possible rise to GH₵22.00 or GH₵26.00 per day.
This would translate to a percentage increase of 18.92% or 40.54%, respectively.
Labor unions, such as the Trades Union Congress (TUC), are pushing for a 20-30% wage increase across all sectors, citing the rising cost of living.
The negotiations will also focus on issues like salary harmonization, cost-of-living allowances, and tax reliefs for workers.
