Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has taken decisive action following the chaotic events that unfolded during yesterday’s Appointments Committee sitting. In a swift response to the disruptions, Bagbin has imposed a two-week suspension on four Members of Parliament (MPs) involved in the incident.
The suspended MPs, namely Rockson Dafeamekpor, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib, will not only be barred from participating in parliamentary proceedings for the duration of their suspension but will also be prohibited from entering the Parliament building until further notice.
In addition to the suspension, a police investigation has been ordered to probe the circumstances surrounding the chaotic incident. Furthermore, a parliamentary committee will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter, with a report expected to be submitted within two weeks.
This decisive action by Speaker Bagbin demonstrates his commitment to maintaining order and decorum within the Parliament. The suspension and investigations aim to address the disruptions and ensure that the parliamentary proceedings are conducted in a peaceful and respectful manner.
